AI connector

Ask Claude or ChatGPT about any school in England or Wales, and get our numbers back

Plug TrustlyEd straight into the AI assistant your team already uses. Ask a question in plain English, and the assistant pulls the answer from our joined-up GIAS, Ofsted, DfE finance and Find a Tender data, with the date each source was last updated.

See what you can ask

It’s included in every plan and in the free trial. Sign in, add the connector, and ask.

Example

Which Lancashire schools got “Needs attention” for leadership on their latest Ofsted report card?

21 schools: 19 primary and 2 secondary. Four are in academy trusts; the other 17 are council-maintained.

The largest has 989 pupils. All four of the biggest were also judged “Needs attention” for curriculum and teaching.

Ofsted data as at 31 August 2026. Each school links to its TrustlyEd record and report.

It works inside the tools you already pay for

The connector speaks MCP, the open standard Claude and ChatGPT both use to plug in outside data. So there’s nothing new to learn and no new app. You add TrustlyEd once, sign in with your TrustlyEd account, and it’s there in every chat.

Your own agents

Anything that speaks MCP: n8n, Zapier, Cursor, or a script your ops team runs against the OpenAI or Anthropic API.

What your team would actually ask it

These are the jobs we’ve built it around. Each prompt below is answerable from the data we hold today.

Marketing

Build a campaign audience in one question instead of an afternoon of filtering, then ask for the list as a table you can paste into your email tool. Inspection results make a better hook than a generic mailshot, and the assistant can draft the angle per segment.

Primary schools in Kent with over 300 pupils whose report card says “Needs attention” for curriculum and teaching. Group them by trust.

Sales

Start the week with what changed in your patch. New inspections and newly published contract awards are the two things that open a conversation.

What changed within 20 miles of Leeds in the last seven days? New inspections and contract awards only.

Account research

Five minutes before a call, get the trust in one answer: how many schools, how they’re doing, three years of finances, and who they’ve contracted with since the Procurement Act came in.

Brief me on Star Academies: schools, Ofsted picture, income and reserves over three years, and contracts awarded since February 2025.

Bid and tender teams

Find contracts coming up for renewal and who holds them now. Framework ceilings are flagged as ceilings, so a trust’s real spend isn’t buried under a £415m framework it runs for other buyers.

Which academy trusts have catering or cleaning contracts ending before September 2027, and who holds them?

Recruitment

Size up trusts in a region by schools and pupils, then drill into the ones that fit the roles you place.

Trusts in Yorkshire and the Humber with ten or more schools, biggest by pupils first.

CRM and ops

Point Claude Code, n8n or your own script at the connector and keep your CRM current: trust, pupil numbers, latest Ofsted and income, looked up by URN every night.

For each URN in this list, give me trust, pupils, latest Ofsted outcome and latest income.

What it knows, and what it won’t do

What it knows

  • Every open school in England (around 24,500, from GIAS, refreshed daily) and Wales (around 1,500, from the Welsh Government list, checked weekly), and every open academy trust (around 2,030).
  • Ofsted’s old single-word grades and the new report cards side by side, plus every inspection since 2018/19 with links to the reports.
  • DfE finance for each school by year: income, spending by category, reserves.
  • Contract awards from Find a Tender since 24 February 2025, matched to the trust or school that bought, with the supplier named.
  • When each source was last updated. That date comes back with every answer.

What it won’t do

  • Give out people’s names. No head teachers, no governors. That’s deliberate: we sell data about organisations, not a contact list.
  • Change anything in your account. It only reads.
  • Add framework ceilings into contract totals. We found a trust with a £12.7m budget showing £833m of “contracts” because two frameworks it hosts for the whole public sector were being summed. The connector labels those values and leaves them out.
  • Let an agent download the whole database. There’s a daily allowance per organisation, set well above what a person asking questions will use.

Why we’re building it

In the week to 25 September, ChatGPT fetched pages from our public school and trust directory about 170 times on behalf of people asking it questions. People are already asking AI assistants about schools. What they get back is whatever the assistant can scrape from a web page.

The connector gives them the real thing: the joined record, the right counts, and the caveats our own pages carry. It’s the same database behind the TrustlyEd app, not a second copy.

Connecting it takes about two minutes

01

Add the connector

In Claude or ChatGPT, add a custom connector with the address https://www.trustlyed.com/mcp. In Claude Code it’s one command.

02

You’re sent to TrustlyEd to sign in and approve read-only access. Your password never goes to the AI provider.

03

Ask

Ask about schools, trusts, inspections, finances or contracts in plain English.

Included in your plan

The connector comes with the standard £39.99 a month plan and the 14-day trial. There’s no per-question charge and no separate AI tier.

Try it on the free trial

Start a 14-day trial, no card needed, then open Account → AI connector. If you’re already a customer, sign in and it’s there now. The address to add in Claude or ChatGPT is https://www.trustlyed.com/mcp.

Questions

No. We see which of our tools the assistant called and which filters it used (a region, a phase, a date), so we can meter use and fix problems. We don’t see the rest of your chat, and we don’t store the free text of your questions.

Not for Claude or ChatGPT: you paste one address and sign in. Claude Code, n8n and custom agents need someone comfortable with a config file.

Yes. It can misread a question or summarise badly. Every answer carries the source dates and a link to the TrustlyEd record, so you can check any number in one click.

Not yet. Copilot Studio can connect to MCP servers, so it’s on the list. If your team uses Copilot, tell us through the contact page and it moves up.
